When it comes to your cat's safety and comfort when flying via airline such as Continental Airline's PetSafe Program, at The Sunshine Home we have the knowledge and experience to do it right!

We begin by recommending the best carrier (also called a "crate") for your cat to fly via domestic (US) airlines: the PetMate Vari Kennel Deluxe (the one pictured at left, not the "Junior" version). We believe it is the best-made carrier for this purpose. It is very sturdy, with a secure locking door, and has excellent ventilation. And at 21 inches (53cm) long, 16 inches (41cm) wide and 15 inches (38cm) it seems to offer the purr-fectly sized space with more headroom than most carriers in this class.

And always consult with your veterinarian before shipping the cat. Most airlines will require, at a minimum, a current Health Certificate from your veterinarian (stating the cat is healthy and cleared to fly) and a current rabies vaccination certificate. Check with the airline to make sure you are following their rules and regulations.
